Mrs. Edmund Read, of Covington, Ky., en­tertained elegantly Friday evening with a "conversation'' party, in honor of her daugh­ter, Miss Alice Read, and her charming guest, Miss Gravely, of Virginia. They were assisted in receiving by Mrs. Ralph Hemingray. Mrs. Read was attired in a handsome gown of old rose and pearl silk; Miss Read in Nile green silk, with gauze drapery; Miss Gravely in white China silk: Mrs. Hemingray in crimson and black velvet. Those present were Misses Jennie Colville. Eliza­beth Haven, Bartow Simrall, Susie Simrall, Miss Walker of Georgetown. Miss Tibbatts of Ohio, Misses Menzies, Miss Orr, Miss Fenley, Miss LuLu Orr, Misses Porter, Miss Hamilton, Miss. Tilden, Messrs. Shelby Rouse, John Simrall, Lewis Matthews. Miller, Crawford, Stewart, Chambers, Davis, Brooks, Warner, Simmonds, Arthur, Trimble. Rocco Ferro discoursed sweet music from the harp during the evening and Eckert served the supper. Miss Mary Hall acted in the capacity of Judge and filled the position in a satisfactory manner.
