Names on Street Lamps.
The Committee on Light opened the bids for names on street lanterns yesterday as follows: B. F. Cann, [dollar:75 cents per lamp; C. H. Sewell, [dollar:65 cents per lamp; T. T. Markland, [dollar:$1 per lamp; H. P. Wellman, [dollar:48 cents per lamp; Hemingray Glass Company, [dollar:70 and [dollar:80 cents per lamp; Scahill, [dollar:75 cents per lamp; W. P. Bowman, [dollar:15 cents per lamp.
The contract was awarded to Sewell. The contract will now have to be reported back to Council, the Solicitor deciding that it was illegal until the action was passed upon by that body.
