Names on Street Lamps.
The Committee on Light opened the bids for names on street lanterns yesterday as follows: B. F. Cann, 75 per lamp; C. H. Sewell, 65 per lamp; T. T. Markland, $1 per lamp; H. P. Wellman, 48 per lamp; Hemingray Glass Company, 70 and 80 per lamp; Scahill, 75 per lamp; W. P. Bowman, 15 per lamp.
The contract was awarded to Sewell. The contract will now have to be reported back to Council, the Solicitor deciding that it was illegal until the action was passed upon by that body.
