Lester Hiatt, 83, 3604 Burlington Drive, died Tuesday in Ball Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Muncie, attended city schools and spent his entire life in this area. Mr. Hiatt was associated with Hiatt & Floyd Masonry Co. for several years before retiring in 1965. Earlier, he worked with Hemmingray [sic] Hemingray Glass Co., later known as Owens-Illinois.

He was a member of St.Lawrence Catholic Church and Brickmasons Union Local 19. Surviving are his wife, Florence; two sons, Robert E. Hiatt Sr., and Donald L. Hiatt, both of Muncie; a stepson, Jerry Needier, Muncie; a sister, Evelyn Shane, Muncie; three brothers, Charles and Donald, both of Muncie, and Earl Hiatt, Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with Rev. Louis Heitz officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at Meeks Mortuary, where rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. |
