Terre Haute Thirty Yeas Ago Today By BOB CRONIN · · Passing Along.
Mrs. Alicia Brown Fischer died at her home, 411 South Fifth street, at 12:30 o’clock Thursday morning, after an illness of but a few hours. Mrs. Fischer was 88 years old. Her two daughters. Mrs. John Crapo and Mrs. Alice Fischer Harcourt, were at her bedside at the time of death. Following her marriage the family first lived here on South Third street, later purchasing the Hendrich homestead on South Fifth street, where Mrs. Fischer had lived until she passed. Mrs. Eva Hollinger, her eldest daughter, died in in 1920. Her son, Frank, died many years ago, but Mrs. Alice Fischer Harcourt, of New York City, and Mrs. John Crapo, of South Sixth street, survive her with four grandchildren, Fred George and John Crapo, and Mrs. Eva Hollinger Hemmingray [sic] Hemingray, of Muncie. This death marks the passing of one of Terre Haute’s pioneers and more substantial citizens, a woman who received and deserved the respect of citizens all through her fifty years of residence. · · |
