Not Identified. Dan Hemingray, the well known business man across the river, has discovered a new plan for having sport at the expense of his friends, and several of his acquaintances suffered in consequence. The other day while coming across the river in a car, he was approched by Colonel Lee Brooks, who extended his hand, saying, "How-de-do, Dan?" Mr. Hemingray feigned astonishment, but recovered in a moment, and said: "I guess you have made a mistake. I am Bob Hemingray, from Muncie, Ind." Colonel Brooks offered an apology, declaring at the same time that he and Dan looked so much alike he never could tell them apart. Next day he again met the same gentleman on "Change, and with a confident air approached with the usual salutation, addressing it this time to Bob. Again, Mr. Hemingray's face wore a puzzled air a moment, than he said: "Pardon me, but you have made a mistake. Bob is in Muncie, and my name is Dan." The incident proved too much for the Colonel, and he withdraw too soon to hear the laughter that followed. But he is not the only one who has thus suffered. The funny part of it is that the Hemingrays do not in any way resemble one another, and are about as much alike in appearance as two strangers. — Cincinnati Commercial Gazette. |
