FRUIT CANS.
WE shall, this season, engage largely in the manufacture of the Glass Jar with the ground stopper, for preserving fruits. These jars are acknowledged on all hands, to be the best in use; and everywhere taken the place of the Tin Cans. They are far less trouble than to seal hermetrically, and never fail to preserve the fruit.
Coal Oil and Lamps for its Use.
The subscribers invite the attention of all who wish to avoid the enormous expenditure for gas, and the accidents incident to Camphene, Burning Fluid, &c., to their Lamps adapted for burning Coal Oil. As to the economy, safety and brilliancy of light this Oil places all other artificial contrivances in the shade. It is not inflammable, except from the wick, nor liable to explosion. As to the economy in its use, we merely state that a Lamp giving light equal to six star candles, will consume in three hours Oil that will cost only one cent. Whey then should we not avoid the terrible accidents continually occurring from the use of other materials, and also, repudiate our enormous gasbills?
Call and see the Oil burning at our store, — opposite the Mansion house — in our Lamps, suitable for parlor, kitchen or chamber.
Samples of each style and style of lamps will be sent to any point, if requested.
