INDIANA GAS FIELDS AND THE

AMERICAN MANUFACTURER.

EDITOR AMERICAN MANUFACTURER : -- We had decided upon Muncie as a site for our new glass works before we saw your article, but we were much pleased with the same, as it had a tendency to lighten the burden we felt at leaving our home. We expect to have one 14-pot furnace running within 90 days from now. The factory will be built of, or covered with iron, main factory, 70'x70'; leers 56 feet long, no ovens; packing house, 40'x70'; and two buildings, 35'x50' each, for mixing room. Pot room, storage and other rooms have not been determined upon at present, but will be of ample size.

This first furnace will be devoted to making all classes of green and amber ware, especially for our now celebrated fruit jar, "The Globe," for which we now have orders sufficient to run to July 1st. We expect to erect an additional furnace next summer or fall and within a year have our whole plant, four furnaces, in Muncie. We are very much pleased with your paper. The articles from Dr. Phinny on "Natural Gas in Indiana," had great weight with us.

Yours,                  HEMINGRAY GLASS CO.
