TODAY'S CHEERFUL NOTE Plans are said to be well under way for the resumption of operations at the California Glass Insulator Works, whose properties, located northwest of the city, are held in trust to the Continental Security Company of Los Angeles. According to a recent statement made by Manager Moore of the Security Company, the trustees have plans in view to put the plant in operation should flood control measures be introduced. If the big bond issue for flood control is favorably passed on, operations will probably be resumed this summer. That several new units will be added to the present plant was intimated in the statement made. The present equipment is suitable only for the output of glass insulatiors [sic] insulators, but it is proposed that other installations be made, which will fit out the local works for high-grade plate and ornamental vase work. Because of the danger of the flood waters, and heavy damage which has been inflicted on the properties of the California Glass Insulator Works during the past several years, the trustees have withheld any steps for improvement or the resumption of operations. The local glass works have been idle during the past two years. |
