MACHINERY AND MATERIAL Glass Plant Being Removed to San Pedro Following the demolition of the plant of the California Glass Insulator Company on Anaheim road the machinery and material will be taken to San Pedro where, on a site of about four acres adjacent to and south of that of the American Trona Company, the Glass Company's equipment will be utilized in a new plant for the Pacific Glass Casket Company. This corporation, formed some time ago in the east, has been seeking a location in the harbor district for some time. The Long Beach city building inspector recently issued a permit for the demolition of the idle plant of the Glass Insulator Company. J. A. Branegan, who is now superintending the tearing down of the machinery, is manager of the Casket Company. He will leave soon for the east to place orders for additional machinery. Actual construction for the new plant will not begin until after his return, but it is expected that the first unit will be in operation by the first of July. Burial caskets made of glass are now being used at many places in the east, Mr. Branegan states. |
