REV. DR. W. H. FELIX DIES

AT CLEARWATER, FLA.

Former Pastor of First Baptist

Church Succumbs to

Heart Attack.

WAS BELOVED LEADER.

Funeral to Be Held in Lexington

Wednesday Afternoon.

Rev. Dr. W. H. Felix, former pastor of the Baptist church of this city, and later of the David's Fork church of the county, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his winter home in Clearwater, Fla., where he had spent his winters for the last few years. Death was due to heart trouble, from which he had been a sufferer for several years and which caused him to surrender his pulpit from the ministry.

Dr. Felix's death was nevertheless entirely unexpected, as he had been in comparatively good health for several months. Mrs. Felix and her daughter, Miss Anna Brad Felix, were present when the beloved minister sank gently into the last sleep. Dr. Felix leaves his widow and three children, Mrs. Bain, widow of the late William Bain; Miss Ann Brad Felix, and Mr. W. H. Felix, Jr., of this city.

The body of Dr. Felix, according to a telegram to the Rev. Dr. J. W. Porter of the First Baptist church yesterday, notifying him of his comrade's death, will arrive possibly Tuesday morning from Clearwater and the funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist church.

The services will be conducted by Dr. J. W. Porter and Rev. W. D. Gwyn of Georgetown, who was Dr. Felix's pastor at David's Fork church where he held his membership at the time of his death.

Dr. Felix was twice pastor of the First Baptist church of this city, covering a period of about fifteen years at the close of which he became pastor of David's Fork church, which prospered remarkably until he closed his work by resignation from the pulpit some three years ago. Dr. Felix was pastor of Hanson Place church, at Brooklyn, N. Y., before coming to Kentucky. He was also pastor of the First Baptist church of Covington, Ky. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, and had throughout his long and useful life held many positions of leadership in his denomination. He was a contributor to nearly all the leading religious periodicals of the day; had written a number of able tracts and had been a foremost worker for over forty years in his denomination.

He was an orator of great force, a writer of profound research, a thinker of great versatility, a man of deep and abiding convictions, of simple tastes, of gentle bearing, and beloved by all who had the good fortune to come in contact with him.
