A HEARTS PARTY.

 

Two social events of interest yesterday were the hearts parties given by Mrs. John Marsh in the afternoon and evening for Mrs. Walter Ryan and Mrs. J. R. Beatty. The color scheme red and white, was carried out in the floral decorations of the several rooms. The score cards were very pretty, having minature [sic] miniature hearts in water color upon them. The ices and cakes were in the shape of hearts, white heart-shaped boxes filled with bonbons were given as favors. In the game of hearts prizes were awarded for the most games. The invited guests for the evening were Messrs. and Mesdames W. C. Ball, James Bingham, George F. McCulloch, W. E. Hitchcock, C. M. Rich, F. C. Ball, H. C. Kimbrough, Leo Ganter, W. H. Oxtoby, J. M. Maring, J. M. Gray, C. L. Bender, William Dickey, J. A. Meeks, W. M. Patterson, C. H. Anthony, Clarence Kiser, Arthur Brady, H. H. Baker, Mesdames Lola McDowell, G. M. Bard, R. M. Hemingray and Harriet M. Johnston. Misses Anna Goddard, Lecky, Edna Streeter, McCulloch, Love, Messrs. T. L. Ryan, P. R. Janney, C. K. Mavity, E. B. Ball, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Scott, Indianapolis; Mrs, D. H. Wiles. Indianapolis; Mrs. R. J. Beatty, Chicago; Miss Isabelle Woodworth,. Buffalo.

Under the auspices of the W. C. T. U., the Rev. Alice Palmer, of Hammond, Ind., will preach Sunday morning at 10:30 at the Friends' church, corner of Mulberry and Seymour streets, and at the Madison Street M. E. church at 7:30 p.m. She is an eloquent speaker. All are cordially invited.
