CARNIVAL WAS GREAT SUCCESS Benefit For Jesse O’Neil Netted Satisfactory Sum — Polo Game Ends Tie. The skating carnival given by Local, No. 23, A. F. G. W. U., in the Auditorium last night was a success and the sum of $395 was realized from the sale of tickets. All the proceeds, aside from the actual expenses will go to Jesse O'Neal, one of the employes of the Hemingray Glass company. Mr. O'Neil suffered a stroke of paralysis recently and is unable to work. The grand march was called for 8 o'clock and 52 persons participated in it. Miss Grace Eiler won the prize for the most graceful woman skater. The man's prize was taken by Walter Pedro. Arthur Morrow was given the prize for the finest man’s costume and Miss Gertrude Foreman won the prize tor the most comical costume. One of the best features of the evening was a polo game between the Royals Junior and the Reserves. It ended a tie, 3 to 3. Goals were made by Golliver for the Reserves and Murray and Smith for the Juniors. The line up was; Royals Junior — First rush, Robert Murray; second rush, Fred Davis; center, Herbert Smith; half-back, Ed Icerman; goal tender, Lon Bishop. For the Westside Reserves — First rush, Erwin Haizley; second rush, B. Golliver, center, John Banta; half-back, Peter Weekly; goal, Hank Golliver, Referee, Harry Kinsman. |
