MISS M'DOWELL'S AFFAIR.

 

The dancing party given by Miss Kate McDowell for Miss Helen Smith, of Indianapolis, last night, was one of the largest social events of the holiday season. One hundred thirty guests attended, a number of whom were college students who are home to spend their vacations. The entire hall was prettily trimmed. The Christmas colors, green and red, predominated. During the reception hours which were from 8 until 10 o'clock, Miss McDowell was assisted in receiving by her mother, Mrs. W. Fernando McDowell. The hostess wore a charming dress of white taffeta, with trimmings of black velvet ribbon. Music was furnished for the splendidly arranged dance program by the acad­emy orchestra, assisted by Mr. Percy Deighton, of Huntington, Ind.
