BOYS GO ON STRIKE.

Hemingray Glass Factory Idle

on that Account.

The Hemingray Glass company’s factory is idle, 125 boys who do the light, common labor having gone out on a strike. They demanded an increase of 20 cents per day, yesterday, claiming the boys at Ball Brothers’ had received a similar increase. A committee from the boys called on the president, Ralph Hemingray, and made their demands. They were offered an increase of 10 cents per day, Mr. Hemingray having investigated and found that this was the amount granted the boys at Ball Brothers. The boys then refused to accept the offer and demanded 20 cents, quitting work and throwing 250 men out of work when the last offer was refused.

The sticking-up boys formerly received 70 cents a day while the carrying-in boys received 80 cents. Should their demands be complied with the company's pay-roll would be increased about $25 a day.

The small help In the local glass factories is now better paid than ever before in the history of the glass industry.
