HEMINGRAY GLASS CO.

 

A pioneer concern in the glass making industry is the Hemingray Glass company, whose establishment dates back to 1848. This company operate factories at Muncie and at Covington, Ky., and both plants have had a prosperous season. The officers of the company are: President, R. G. Hemingray; vice-president, Bradford Shinkle; secretary and treasurer. D. C. Hemingray, all of whom are men of commercial and social prominence. The manager of the Muncie plant is J. C. Gray, a gentleman whose early home was in Covington, Ky.. and whose residence in Muncie began in 1893, He is regarded as a competent superintendent of the plant The building used by this com­pany are on South Macedonia avenue, and cover about eight acres. Since 1870 the company have been incorporated with ample capital stock and are carrying on a gradually increasing business. The output of the plants consists of telegraph and telephone in­sulators, knobs, etc., and of fruit jars, and these products are sold over a large territory in this country and ex­ported to some extent. At the Muncie plant there are about 600 persons employed during the time the fires are in, and this is always referred to as one of the important industrial con­cerns of the city, which has had no little share in Muncie's present pros­perity and substantial financial condition. Our city enjoys excellent trans­portation facilities, and this, of course aids materially in the rapid and prompt distribution of the manufactured products of the city. This company are up to date in their equipment in the factory and are abreast with the times in all departments of their activities.
