WORKER DIES


John “Jack” Kelly Long With

Hemingray. Co.

 

John Kelly, former Muncie glass-worker, died Thursday night in a hospital at Cincinnati according to word received here today. He was 70 years of age.

Familiarly known to his many Muncie friends as “Jack” Kelly, he was a pioneer glassblower here. He came to Muncie from Covington, Ky., with the Hemingray Glass Com­pany when the plant was moved here from Covington, and he worked for the Hemingrays for 40 years.

Old Muncie glassblowers recalled today there are only three left of the ariginol [sic] original group who came to Muncie with the Hemingray broth­ers. They are: Harry McDonald, E. Main St., John Cramer, 1325 E. Main St., and W. J. (Billy) Finan, 833 E. Charles.

John Kelly recently retired and went to Cincinnati, where he has a brother, James, surviving. Only other survivor is a sister, Sally Englehart, of Covington, Ky.

Mr. Kelley was prominent in labor circles here and was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Funeral services and burial will be at Covington.
