JUST HERE AND THERE. · · One week from today the Hemingray Glass Company will start turning out beer bottles on a full time schedule. This was made certain yesterday when President Roosevelt attached his signature to the beer bill. Fires have been under the large tanks in the Hemingray plant for several days and the glass will be ready for pouring by next Wednesday night. That means employment for 300 men or more. Information yesterday was that the Hemingray company already has orders for a thousand car loads of bottles and it was estimated by officials of the plant that those orders would keep three shifts working full time for at least five to six months. In the meantime new business is expected to maintain a heavy schedule. That will mean much to old employes of the Hemingray company and to the stockholders. Regardless of one's personal opinion about the return of beer, most everyone will be glad to see that many men given steady employment. · · |
