WARNER GEAR TO RECALL MEN Yorktown Road Plant on Full Schedule.
The Warner Gear Company’s Number Three plant, situated on Yorktown Road, just west of Muncie, will resume complete operations Wednesday morning, according to announcement of the company made today. The plant will give employment to 200 to 250 men to fill the orders now on hand. The factory has been operating with a small force of late. The company requests that all its employes who were working there when the factory shut down its major operations, report for duty at the plant Wednesday morning. The management is not in a position to say how long the factory will operate on its present orders. The concern is principally engaged in the manufacture of gears for the Ford Motor Company of Detroit. The company expects to give preference to its former employes in distributing the jobs. Hemingray Plants Busy. Approximately 150 men will be given work when the Hemingray Glass Company resumes operations next week. Only former employes will be given jobs. Inasmuch as not all former employes can be put back to work, no "outsiders" will be considered. according to plant officials. Legalization of beer has brought hundreds of carloads of bottle orders to the company. According to Philip W. McAbee, president, the company now has enough orders on hand to run the factory four or five months. Operations will be resumed just as soon as the tanks are ready. This probably will be about the middle of the week. |
