RECENT DEATHS.


THOMAS JENKINS, a well known and highly respected veteran of the green bottle trade died at Muncie, Ind., Dec. 19, from pneumonia while on a holiday visit to his son. Deceased was 66 years old and had worked at his place in the Boldt factory at Cincinnati, O., the Monday before Christmas. He was born in Baltimore, Md., Oct. 15, 1835, and served his apprenticeship at the Baker Glass Co. plant in that city. In 1865 he went to Covington, Ky., to work for the Hemingray Glass Co. and remained with them until 1869 when he went to Louisville, Ky., to work. In 1871 he returned to Covington and resumed work for the Hemingray Glass and remained with them for 21 years. Since then he has worked for Ball Bros. of Muncie and for the Boldt Glass Co. of Muncie and Cincinnati, for whom he worked at the time of his death. Mr. Jenkins was a pioneer in the Glass Bottle Blower's Association and a union man all his life. He leaves a widow, six sons and a daughter. Four of the sons are glass workers. The funeral occurred Tuesday, Branch 12 being represented and sending a handsome floral offering. One of the sons is Harry Jenkins, former executive board member of the G. B. B. A.
