CITY COUNCIL. — An ordinance was presented investing Robt. Hemingray, A. Murray, R. W. Dugan, J. L. Stephens and R. G. Hemingray with the full privilege of using the streets, alleys and avenues of the city for the purpose of conducting a natural gas for public and private use for heating and motive power only, the privilege to be for a period of twenty-five years. Referred to the Committee on Law. The Committee on Ways and Means reported that the city's note for [dollar:$10,000] had been discounted at the First National Bank, and the proceeds placed to the credit of the city. The appropriations to the amount of [dollar:$89,988.76] were made. The improvement of Robbins street by McKenna was accepted, and an ordinance passed levying [dollar:$43.68] to pay for the same. A petition from a number of prominent business men of the city was read asking that the Superintendent of Public Works repair River road at a cost of [dollar:$200]. It was voted down, Mr. Harbick declaring that the road could not be repaired for [dollar:$1,000]; that the road was entirely destroyed for all practical purposes.
