Louis, the little son of Mr. Cole, the grocer, at the corner of Third and Russell streets, had a narrow escape from death yesterday evening, about half-past 5 o'clock. In company with some other boys, he went down to the bluelick-works, at the Hemingray Glass-house, and while examining everything about the place, with the eager curiosity of youth, he stepped inside the drill-house, where the blue-lick has its outlet. There are occasional puffs of gas from the aperture, and the boy getting over the latter inhaled a quantity of the gas. he fell instantly to the ground apparently lifeless. His companions greatly frightened, summoned aid, the boy was taken out, and efforts to revive him failing, he was carried home, where Dr. Stuard was hastily summoned. The physician worked with the little fellow for two or three hours without being able to restore consciousness. The indications at a late hour, however, were that the lad would survive, and Dr. Stuard expressed himself confident of a favorable issue, though the case was still one of some uncertainty.
