HEMINGRAY GLASSWORKS. Strong Effort Made To Induce Its Location at Latonia. An effort is being made to induce the Hemingray Glass Company. which has signified its intention of removing from Muncie, Ind., to this city, to purchase land and establish its factory along the Licking River at Latonia, just above the Latonia Distillery. C. G. Mason, Latonia real estate dealer, is acting as agent for the popular movement, and has several tracts of land which he has submitted to the company for consideration. The Council of Latonia has agreed to exempt the plant from taxes for a period of years, and will try to secure for it free water as well. Mr. Mason claims the tracts he has offered the company are ideal, and that the Licking River will furnish it an inlet for all its coal supply. The Hemingray company has expressed a preference for locating on this side, but the city authorities are powerless to offer any kind of bonus as an inducement. It is claimed that general advantages offered by Cincinnati as a location more than offset any bonus offered by any other city. |
