$1,500 WORTH OF JEWELS LOST ON

TRAIN BY DENVER WOMAN RECOVERED

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct 11. — Mrs. Frank Ashley and her sister, Miss Agnes Roberts, arrived from Denver Sunday. En route Mrs. Ashley lost her chamois bag filled with jewels and valued at $1,500. There were diamonds and pearls in the bag, which she had worn around her neck. Mrs. Ashley remembered that the family who occupied the berth opposite had inquired if she had her purse, to which question she gave a negative reply. She recalled the fact that the family were en route from Manila to Butler, Mo. The matter was placed in the hands of Marshal Rice, who went to Butler and found that the family who occupied the berth opposite Mrs. Ashley was that of Congressman DeArmond, who were members of Secre­tary Taft's party to the Philippines. The missing Jewels were described and were turned over to the officer, who returned them to Mrs. Ashley today.

"My wife is in Kansas City at the present time, but as to her having lost any jewels I have no knowledge," said Frank R. Ashley last night. "If the jewels were lost and have been recovered I am very glad; further than this I can say nothing."

Mr. Ashley is president of the Western Glass Manufacturing company and treasurer and general manager of the Western Chemical works. Mrs. Ashley is well known in Denver society. Her beautiful Jewels have been for years the admiration of her friends.
