Destruction by Fire of the Kaolin
Works.
The Augusta Chronicle of Saturday says: "On Thursday night fire was discovered issuing from the engine room of the Southern Porcelain Factory, situated at Kaolin, six miles from Hamburg, S. C., in Edgefield District. All the assistance at hand was unable to check the flames which rapidly spreading destroyed, with a trifling exception, the entire works.
"This is a most serious and public calamity, but we hope soon to chronicle its successful operation again. The loss is estimated at $200,000 with an insurance of $25,000."
