RESERVE OFFICER IS

ASSIGNED TO MUNCIE

FOR 335TH INFANTRY

United States army reserve headquarters for an area which includes approximately one-fourth of the state, has been located in Muncie with an office in the plant of the Hemingray Glass Company.

The 335th Infantry, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Philip W. McAbee, is distributed throughout this area. The government has ordered Captain Harrry R. Simmons, of the United States Army, to duty in Muncie to assist Colonel McAbee in the administration of reserve affairs in this part of the state.

In case of emergency this regiment would represent this locality, "In order to have a regiment worthy of Muncie and the state," said Captain Simmons today, "the regiment will need the support of every public-sipirited [sic] spirited citizen. Muncie is becoming known a center of interest in military affairs and we hope still further to promote the interest that we find here."
