THE meeting of the Western Flint Bottle Association, at Columbus, on September 26, was well attended, nearly all the manufacturers in the west being present. J. K. Cummings, of St. Louis, Mo., presided, and John Watson, Pittsburgh, was secretary. The following houses sent representatives: William McCully & Co., W. H. Hamilton & Co., Agnew & Co., J. T. & A. Hamilton, and Tibby Bros., Pittsburg; the North Wheeling Glass Co.; the Bellaire Bottle Co.; the Steubenville Bottle Co.: Kearns, Herdman & Gorsuch, Zanesville, Ohio; W. Eliot Smith, the Great Western Glass Co., and J. K. Cummings, St. Louis, Mo.; and the Hemingray Glass Co., Covington, Ky. R. Liddell, Pittsburgh, C. L. Flaccus, Tarentum, and the Point Bottle Works, Rochester, Pa., were not represented directly, but signified their intention by proxy to adhere to the resolutions of the convention. W. Eliot Smith, J. K. Cummings, the Steubenville Bottle Co., the Bellaire Bottle Co., and Kearns, Herdman & Gorsuch were admitted to the association. The principal business done was the withdrawal of former discounts and quotations; the new ones will be made known to the trade in a few days. Nothing was said regarding the recent labor complications here, the convention looking upon them as merely of local interest, and the meeting adjourned to meet in Cincinnati on October 24, 1883. The Burnett House will be the place of meeting.
