HENRY COUNTY LEASES
ARE TAKEN IN NUMBERS
Activity Due to the Discovery of Oil
on the Farm of Clark
Hosier.
[BY STAR SPECIAL SERVICE]
New Castle, Ind., Oct. 28. — Leasing of land in the vicinity of the oil well recently struck on the Clark Hosier farm continues, and it seems only a question of short time until every available foot of land within a radius of two miles will be under lease for oil drilling.
Among the leases recorded are the H. L. Mendenhall farm to H. O. Patch and Ralph Hemingray, of Pittsburg. The Pittsburg Gas and Oil company, with headquarters at Muncie, have a lease on the Lyman Scott farm, and the Marion Stout farm. Other farmers who have leased are George Woodward, Richmond Wisehart and Samuel Fisher. All of the leases so far recorded and for a period of five years and stipulate that wells are to be drilled within thirty, sixty or ninety days.
