Sam Bird works at Hemingray's glass works and resides in a neat two story house near by. It is said that a burglar recently gained admission to his house during the stilly hours of the night and Mrs. Bird soon discovered the fact. She awoke her husband and related the circumstances and wanted him to drive him away, but he had a better scheme than that; he simply locked the door to the room in which they were sleeping, went back to bed and was soon sound asleep. He said that he was not afraid of the prowler getting away with anything.
