Social Functions.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert K. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Over gave the prettiest and most, enjoyable dancing party of the season Wednesday night in Shirk's hall. It was a function that during the entire season has not been surpassed. Aside from the beauty of the affair there was that true feeling that the warmest welcome was yours and it was predominant among the two hundred guests throughout the evening.
The beauty, intellect and wealth of Muncie was present; in fact it was a gathering of the real swell set of the city.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Over received their guests near the east entrance to the hall and were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. VanDeventer, of Anderson, and by Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Over. Mrs. Smith wore a superb Paris gown of blue foulard. Her jewels were diamonds and she carried American beauty roses. Mrs. Over's gown was also a Paris creation; a beautiful embroidered pink and white organdie. She wore violets and diamonds. Mrs. C. H. Over wore a magnificent silk crepon. Diamonds were her jewels, The guests also displayed gowns that were perfect dream of loveliness. The hall was bountifully decorated with a profusion of ferns, palms, smilax, American beauty roses, carnations and potted blooms. Every light was entwined with the green vines and behind a bank of the same color was half hidden Montani Bros., full orchestra from Indianapolis. The mantels were banked and covered with palms, ferns and blooming plants and from each nook and corner peeped nodding bunches of roses and carnations.
For those of the guests who did not dance there were card tables which Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Over did the honors. The archways leading from the dancing floor to the card room were hung with rich tapestry and in one corner of the room was a cute little Turkish nook to which many a young couple drifted during the evening. At midnight Caterer Hummel served in admirable style, a delicious four course supper, and dancing was then continued for several hours. Following is a list of the invited guests:
