A MIDNIGHT FIRE.

A Barn Near Hemingray's

Glass Factory Burned.

Last night an alarm from Box 61 called Station No. 2 and Chief Shepp to the rear of Hemingray's glass factory where a large barn belonging to Hemingray's was on fire. The fire boys made a quick dash. The fire was soon put out but not until the barn was almost destroyed. Night Watchman Barnhart discovered the fire just in time to get out the horse, all the hair being burned off one side of the animal. Loss $100.

No. 2 had a hard time getting there on account of ropes and fences that had been placed across the streets to quarantine that district. Chief Shepp says all this must be away when there is a fire.

Some man left a load of hay standing in the middle of South Chestnut street, making it very dangerous for the fire department. Chief Shepp will see that the man is prosecuted today.
