MAKE A KICK
Muncie Gas Companies
Before the Board
OBJECT TO PIPE RATE
Fictitious Prices Made by the Iron
Trusts Were Observed and Now a
Cut Will be Made.
The county board of review had another busy day yesterday with representatives of local natural gas companies present, making objections to the recent rate established by the board on gas pipe.
T. F. Rose, of the Muncie Natural Gas company; Mr. Zeigler, of the Muncie Heat, Light and Power company, and Mr. Hemingray, of the Manufacturers Natural Gas company, appeared before the board and made a strong appeal, claiming that the rate was decidedly unjust. By way of explanation the gentlemen stated that the rate on gas pipe and wire had been boosted about 300 per cent this spring by the trust, but it was a fictitious rate made for a purpose and that pipe should not be held to the schedule. The arguments of the gentlemen were so strong that most likely there will be some big alterations made in the lists of the assessors.
The board is behind with the work as mapped out previous to the meeting, with the following companies yet to be dealt with, all of which should have been disposed of ere this time: Ball Bros.' Glass company, Belt Railroad company, Indiana Bridge company, Muncie Foundry and Machine company, and the Muncie Electric Light company.
These companies are requested to have representative before the board at once, or their property will be rated without their cases being heard.
The following valuations were established yesterday:
Standard Oil company ............... [dollar:$6,135]
Buck Creek Natural Gas Co........[dollar:$390]

Hemingray Glass company..........[dollar:$11,665]
