J. L. Stephens, an employe at Hemingray's, lost all his household furniture, save a cook stove, and all his personal effects, in a fire which burned down his dwelling at 631 Hoyt avenue early this morning. Mr. Stephens, his wife and their two small children, were asleep when the fire started and experienced difficulty in reaching a place of safety. The house, which was entirely destroyed, was owned by a man in Union City. No insurance is carried on the property, it is said. Chief Casey and No. 2 hose company attended.
