NOAH BIRD Popular Glass Worker Dead in Kentucky Had Worked Continuously for the Hemingrays for 34 Years — Belonged to Local 23. Word was received in Muncie yesterday of the death of Noah Bird, who died yesterday morning in Covington, Ky., of dropsy, the deceased being about fifty years of age. For thirty-four years Mr. Bird had been employed by the Hemingray Glass company, having come to Muncie with the factory several years ago from Covington. His family has since resided here, and no more popular man worked in a glass factory in Muncie, than did Noah. Last night Local union No. 23,. A. F G. W. U., of which the deceased was an active member, held a meeting and appointed the following committee to go to Covington today to represent the local and take charge of the remains for burial in that city on Sunday: John Butler, Thomas Murray, Thomas Harrold, Peter Concannon, George Matheson and Michael Carey. These men will act as pallbearers, all being associate workmen for years. The deceased resided at the corner of Eighth and Shipley streets. |
