MUNCIE, IND.

By Cyrus Herron.

I have been requested by our press secretary, Brother Walter Claspel, to send the news to the Flint for this month.

Am glad to state that we start one tank here the 25th after a shut-down of two months.

At our conference, held September 13th, which President Clarke attended, it was agreed that the third shift be abolished and our members received a general increase of 10 per cent in wages. This is the first in- crease we have had for years and is certainly appreciated by us. Much credit can be given President Clarke for the capable manner in which he took care of our affairs, and it was largely through his understanding of conditions in the insulator department that we had such a satisfactory settlement.

The factory baseball league, which was composed of six teams, representing the six leading factories of Muncie, closed its season. The Hemingray team finished in fourth place. Our fellows claim it isn't always the best team that wins the pennant and that next year they will make them all sit up and take notice.

We have had two wounded Germans here the past month. Brother John Lang dove into a trench half filled with water and broke his big toe and Martin Erlenbach hurt his ankle while on the field of baseball.

I wish the press secretary of Local Union No. 51 would let me know through the Flint what a Za-Za is. Brother Ralph Carmichael of that local named our camp the Za-Za Fishing Club. I would like to know what it is. It is not in the dictionary. I don't believe there is any such animal.
