Government Positions.

 

A special from Washington sasy [sic] says: Assistant Postmaster General Heath made application today for the position of Collector of Customs on one of the Mexican frontier towns for William M. Hoey, a prominent member of the labor organizations at Muncie. Hoey is also strongly indorsed by Congressman Cromer, with prospects of appointment. Mr. Heath also made application for a position for Alf Meacham, of Muncie, in the census bureau. Mr. Meacham is another prominent member of the labor organizations in Indiana, and is also strongly backed by Cromer. The promise has been made of Meacham's appointment when the director of census begins to fill the various places provided by law.
