INCENDIARISM. — Last night about twelve o'clock flames were discovered bursting from the carpenter shop of Mr. Van Wel, in Hammond street, between Third and Fourth streets, to fire which, it will be remembered, an unsuccessful attempt was made a few nights ago. Upon the alarm being given last night, the fire department at once repaired to the fire, but so rapidly was the progress of the flames that they communicated to the glass establishment of Messrs. Hemingray & Gray, which was seriously injured by fire and water.
Burckhardt's lard-oil factory and the Woodruff House were in danger, but escaped unharmed. The total loss was not more than [dollar:three or [dollar:four thousand dollars. We are not informed whether the property was insured or not. The promptness of the fire department, as usual, deserves commendation.
