Against McAbee
A lien for alleged delinquent taxes on "individual income, additional, for 1935 and 1937," was filed by the federal government against Philip W. McAbee, 824 East Washington street, yesterday. The action, taken under Section 3670, Chapter 36, sub-Chapter B. Internal Revenue Code, is in the sum of [dollar:$247,765.32].
Mr. McAbee returned Friday from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he underwent an operation. When contacted last night at his home he said he did not wish to make a statement.
According to information received here concerning the delinquency, the amount of the original assessment, dated June 21, 1946, was [dollar: $246,954.31]. Unassessed interest not computed to July 17, 1946, was listed at [dollar:$810.01]. As a filing fee is [dolar:$1], this makes the total lien [dollar:$247,765.32].
The lien notice which is filed in the county recorder’s office has the signature of George A. Bender, district collector in charge. It was notarized last Wednesday at Indianapolis.
