Against McAbee

 

A lien for alleged delinquent taxes on "individual income, addi­tional, for 1935 and 1937," was filed by the federal government against Philip W. McAbee, 824 East Washington street, yesterday. The ac­tion, taken under Section 3670, Chapter 36, sub-Chapter B. In­ternal Revenue Code, is in the sum of [dollar:$247,765.32].

Mr. McAbee returned Friday from the Mayo Clinic in Roches­ter, Minn., where he underwent an operation. When contacted last night at his home he said he did not wish to make a statement.

According to information re­ceived here concerning the delin­quency, the amount of the original assessment, dated June 21, 1946, was [dollar: $246,954.31]. Unassessed inter­est not computed to July 17, 1946, was listed at [dollar:$810.01]. As a filing fee is [dolar:$1], this makes the total lien [dollar:$247,765.32].

The lien notice which is filed in the county recorder’s office has the signature of George A. Bender, district collector in charge. It was notarized last Wednesday at In­dianapolis.
