PLAN

Tried to Work New Game

on Covington Citizen.

But His Scheme Was

Frustrated by a Suspicious

Servant.

A bold sneak thief made a daring effort to steal a coat belonging to Water Works Commissioner Daniel Hemingray, of 636 Greenup-st., Covington, yesterday afternoon. Hemingray reported to the police that a strange man had called at his home and demanded that the servant give him Hemingray’s coat, saying he had been sent for it.

The servant became suspicious and said she would telephone to her employer in order to see which coat was wanted. She went to the telephone and when she returned the man was gone. Hemingray stated he did not send anyone for his coat.

The servant described the man as being about 30 years of age, short, heavy set, smooth face, and wore a black soft hat, dark coat and light trousers. The police are looking for the smooth individual.
