The North American Telegraph.
The North American telegraph office in the Temple Court building opened in full blast yesterday with all the work on hand that they could attend to. The office now controls seven wires to Chicago, four of which are direct quadruplex, equal to 16 wires, the other three being for railroad purposes. Said Chief Operator C E. V. Draper: "Just to give you an idea of the time we make let me tell you that we sent a telegram to Chicago this morning and received an answer within three minutes. Another message was sent to Duluth by a gentleman whose place of business is scarcely three blocks away from here, and before he had reached his office a messenger boy was after him with the answer.”
The office commenced business yesterday with six operators and will increase the number by two today. A large number of messengers are constantly at hand.
