GLASS WORKS

TO START SOON

SHIPMENT OF BRICK NOW ON

WAY WITH WHICH REPAIRS ON

THE FURNACE WILL BE MADE

IN FEW WEEKS

Those people in Anacortes who whispered around that the Anacortes Glass Works had gone out of business for good when the plant closed down a few days ago, are going to be terribly disappointed. In a conversation with the Piersons, the American is informed and given the best of assurance that the plant will be running again in a few weeks, as it was found that it was a physical impossibility to make bottles under the conditions as found by the new managers after they started up recently. The plant had been idle so long that portions of the furnace had become impaired, a fact that could not be demonstrated until the plant was started again. When it was found that repairs had to be made in order that the glass blowers could make a fair wage and the plant could run at a profit, there was nothing to do but to close down and make these repairs. The Messrs. Pierson are men o [sic] of means; they understand this business, and they have associated with them other men who are well able to take care of the financial end of the business, as well as themselves, and there being a demand on this coast for bottles and other products of a concern like this, it takes only a second of thought to understand that these men know what they are doing and that they will soon have the plant going again, as a shipment of brick is now on the way from Pennsylvania with which the repairs will be made. The Anacortes Glass Works will yet be one of the big manufacturing institutions of Anacortes and will employ the highest priced skilled labor of any concern here.
