GLASS PLANT
ANACORTES COMPANY WORKS
NIGHT AND DAY TO CATCH UP
WITH ORDERS — WILL THEN
PUT IN EQUIPMENT TO DOUBLE
CAPACITY.
Increasing demand for the product of the Anacortes Glass Company has made it necessary for the officers of that company to make plans to double the facilities of that plant. This will he done, it is announced, as soon as the completion of present orders. This will permit a suspension of activities and give time to add four more cycles to the equipment. The product of the local glass company are coming into big demand throughout the Northwest because of the superior quality and workmanship. This was evidenced a few days ago when the Crescent Manufacturing Company, of Seattle, one of the largest concerns of the kind in the Northwest, placed an order for 2,000 gross of Mapliene [sic] Mapleine bottles.
For some time the company has been engaged in making the glass receptacles for a well known brand of conversation water manufactured at Olympia and Monday a carload of newly manufactured bottles were shipped from the local plant to the Olympia brewery.
Night and day shifts of workmen are employed. The day force is busy turning out the big order of beer bottles for the Olympia brewery and the night force in turning out Mapeliene [sic] Mapleine bottles. It will be several weeks before orders are finished and it will be possible to close down the plant to put in new equipment. With the capacity of the works doubled, the company will be in a position to handle still larger orders, which have been promised.
