HAWLEY.

The remains of John Bryant, who died at Greeley, Pike county, last Sunday night, were brought to this place by Undertaker W. B. Ammerman Tuesday and interred in the old cemetery at the Eddy. Services were held at the home of his mother, at the East End, Rev. Mr. Watrous officiating. Deceased was formerly and for many years a resident of this place. He was aged 49 years and had been an invalid several years.

George E. Shay and W. S. Bloes of Peckville, were in town Wednesday in the interest of organizing the Harloe Insulator company. A meeting was held at the Methodist parsonage and the following were elected to serve until a charter could be procured when a permanent board of officers and directors will be chosen: President, J. S. Welsh; vice-president, W. A. Greeg, treasurer, M. T. Snyder; secretary, Marcus Tuttle; manager, Morton Harloe. Other charter members were W. S. Bloes and George E. Shay of Peckville, and George H. Thompson of our village. The object of this corporation is to erect a plant for the purpose of manufacturing the Harloe patent insulator and other glass specialties. The capital stock is put at $150,000, and the plant is to cost $25,000. The plant will be erected in Hawley but the site has not yet been determined upon. This industry will add materially to the interests of our prosperous village as it is destined in the near future to be one of the leading manufactories. Morton R. Harloe, who has been a resident of Hawley the past two years is the inventor and patentee of this insulator and it has met the approval of the best electrical men in the United States. It has been thoroughly tested and proven to be one of the most effective insulators yet produced. Mr. Harloe, the inventor, is a practical electrician. Messrs. Shay and Bloes, who are interested in the new manufactory are prominent business men of Peckville and men of considerable means. The prospects are that a large share of the stock will be taken by Hawley capital.

Mrs. Schriener of Brooklyn, N. Y., is a guest of Mrs. Joseph Nell during this week. On Monday last Mrs. Nell and Mrs. Schriener were entertained at a tea party at the home of Mrs. John Koldback, at Honesdale.

A. Saltzman, father of Mrs. Dr. Fritts, who recently returned from Switzerland, will make his home in the future with the doctor's family.
