Robert P. Frist Writes the Mayor

Concerning His Home City.

Robert P. Frist, a Blue Hen's Chick, who lived in Wilmington a number of years ago and who was born here, has written an interesting letter to Mayor Harrison W. Howell, thanking him for the invitation to attend the Old Home Week celebration and asking for information as to the details of the celebration. Mr. Frist is now general manager of the California Glass Insulator Co. at Long Beach, Cal. He is well known here and owns considerable real estate in Wilmington. He left Delaware 18 years ago. Mayor Howell will forward to him a copy of the official programme and in compliance with his request in his letter Every Evening will mail him copies of the paper containing accounts of the celebration. The letter is as follows:

Long Beach, Cal., October 16, 1912. Hon. Harrison W. Howell, Mayor, city of Wilmington, Del.

Honorable Sir: -- The kind and thoughtful invitation to be present at the Old Home Week celebration mailed from your city on October 7, and received by me on October 12, is greatly appreciated by this "Blue Hen's Chicken and his brood." Eighteen years have come and gone since I resided in the State of Delaware. That space of years has been spent in traveling over the United States from ocean to ocean.

When asked to name my native State, I have been proud to say "Delaware," a State that produced such men as Ceasar A. Rodney, John M. Clayton and Thomas F. Bayard, and "Wilmington," a city that organized the first fundamental government of the United States, consisting of a church, a school, a court house and a jail, located on the banks of the Christine River. Yes, I am proud that all my family can name their birthplace Wilmington, Delaware.

I would value a copy of the Every Evening, with the account of the good time you had at the celebration, that I may keep it with the card. Thanking you again for your kind remembrance, I am
