FINANCIAL MATTERS.

 

John D. Rockefeller has lately bought the Richelieu Bay ore property in Minnesota, contracted for eight monster steamships to cost $2,500,000, and will, by Sept. 1 be able to bring 500,000 gross tons of iron ore each season from Duluth, his entire investment in iron, vessel and tributary railroad property, at the head of Lake Superior, amounting to $8,000,000.

The Gulf Coast lumbermen, representing a daily product of 1,200,000 feet, have organized the Gulf Coast Lumber Co., to handle the entire output of members.

Jacob Pease, of Brooklyn, is a director in the Baltimore Glass Manufacturing Co., of Buffalo; W. H. C. Delano, of the White Construction Co., of New York, and Herman Ost, Frederick Schmidt and F. C. Wildoester, of Brooklyn, in the Thurmeline Co., capital $16,000, to deal in chemical and vegetable composition.
