ENLARGING OF

GLASS FACTORY

Is Contingent Upon Landing of

Big Contract

On the eve of the signing of contracts involving approximately $100,000 and with representatives in San Francisco negotiating for another large contract, President Farmer of the California Glass Works announced today that the securing of the business contemplated would probably result in an enlargement of the harbor district plant.

It is proposed to expend $20,000 in the manufactory for the purpose of making necessary improvements and enlargements. Contingent on financial arrangements the company plans on the purchase and installation of a new furnace for the manufacture of amber ware, which is used extensively by brewers and bottlers of the state.

Negotiations are now in progress for the signing of contracts with a large company for the manufacture by the local works of 3,500,000 insulators.

M. L. Orcutt, managing director of the plant, arrived in San Francisco to confer with officials of a company relative to a contract calling for 1,500,000 insulators annually.

Should these two contracts be landed by the local company the entire production of the plant for the coming fiscal year will have been contracted for, according to President Farmer.

The California Glass Works is an outgrowth of the Southern California Glass Insulator Company resulting from a reorganization of the latter company.
