Safety Campaign Launched

At Kimble Glass Plant

The safety flag at Kimble Glass Company was still flying today, but employes were barely started on the company-wide attempt to complete a full month without a lost-time accident.

It is-the second time the Kimble Glass Company plant in Muncie has joined with other Owens-Illinois units in a one-month campaign to eliminate lost-time accidents. They tried it in 1946, when there were 22,000 people on company payrolls, and had only one mishap to mar the record.

THIS TIME there are more than 27,000 people involved.

Members of the plant safety committee attended the flag-raising ceremony last Friday, but the campaign didn’t actually start until Saturday morning. The safety flag serves as a constant reminder that of the status of the campaign. In case of a lost-time accident the flag comes down and stays down for a week.

The slogan here: "Let's keep the flag flying."

Members of the safety committee attending the flag raising ceremony were Claude Brooks, Charles Clevenger, Richard Herron, Marvin Johns, Donald Kerr, Bob Kowalski, Clyde Logan, Gola Mahoney, Ben Rhinehart, William F. Smith, Everett Whitlock, Forrest Hazelbaker, Clara Conner, Ed Langas, Ed Spence and Harold Flowers.
