Is Changed
John Bauer, manager of the Muncie Kimble Glass Co. plant, will leave Muncie Thursday to join the staff of Special Industries Division of Kimble in Toledo, O., with Edward P. Spence succeeding him in this city. Mr. Spence has been manager of the Kimble Plant at Sayreville, N.J. Announcement of the change in office was made today by S. A. Kenworthy, vice president of Kimble Glass, a subsidiary of Owens-Illinois.
MR. BAUER will be responsible for the sale of communications insulators in Toledo, with additional responsibilities to be assigned, according to the announcement. Mr. Bauer joined the Muncie plant in 1923 as the first personnel director, later serving in shipping and in sales. He sold glass block for small installations in 32 states and Mexico from 1935 to 1938; was named manager of the Columbus plant in 1947, and Berlin, N.J., plant in 1948.
Mr. Spence joined Kimble Glass Company at Vineland, N.J., in 1933, and advanced from clerk to time study man, industrial engineer and assistant plant service manager. He attended high school at Millville, N.J.; Wharton Evening School of University of Pennsylvania, graduating with honors in industrial engineering and accounting, and took an extension course in shop engineering at Rutgers University. He was plant manager at the Kimble Plant in Warsaw, Ind., in 1947, later cost and budget supervisor at the Toledo Kimble Plant. He has been plant manager at Sayerville for year. He is 39 years old. He is married.
