Three Names to New Posts

at Kimble Glass Company

 

Three appointments in the Kimble Glass Company, a subsidiary of Owens-Illinois Glass Company, were announced Friday.

Ralph Huff, formerly of Muncie, has been appointed product manager for glass block, according to an announcement by K. H. Cunningham, daylighting products sales manager, Roy C. Kendall, formerly of Warsaw, has been named director of technical services for the industrial materials division of Kimble. In announcing the appointment, E. P. Lockart, vice-president and general manager of the division, said Kendall will establish head­quarters at the firm’s Muncie plant, and will report directly to the Muncie plant manager, Edward P. Spence.

Wesley Nilsen has been named product design engineer in the process and product development department of the industrial ma­terials division. Mr. Nilsen’s headquarters will also be in the Muncie plant. He will report to William E. Stewart, newly ap­pointed manager of the de­partment.

Will Direct Block Sales

In his newly-created position, Huff will direct glass block sales by all of the firm’s 14 branch offices coast to coast.

Prior to his appointment he was school activities coordinator, a position he will continue to hold along with his newly assigned duties. Huff joined Owens-Illinois after graduation from In­diana University in 1939, working in the Muncie plant’s insulator sales department.

He was transferred to the Toledo office in 1940, and in 1946 was named glass block branch manager of the Houston, Texas, office. He returned to Toledo in 1955 as Toledo branch manager and was named school activities coordinator in January, 1957.

Huff is married and has five children: James, 13; William, 11; Martin, 9; Andrew, 7; and Thom­as, 4.

Engineering Services

Kendall will be responsible for assisting the factory in the manufacture of curtain-wall compo­nents, preparing of engineering shop drawings for curtain-wall construction, and providing tech­nical and field engineering serv­ices to the Kimble sales depart­ment, architects, engineers and building owners.

Kendall joined Owens-Illinois in 1936 as an architectural drafts­man, research engineer, archi­tectural engineer, product design engineer, and in 1956 he was named manager of the technical services department. Kendall is married and has a son, Peter, 21.

Nilsen joined the Kimble staff as construction design engineer in May, 1957. Previously he had been with Johns-Manville Sales Corp. as a staff engineer.

A native of North Bergen, N. Nilsen is married and has two children: Joan, 3; and Mark, 1.
