Kimble Glass Honors Veteran Employes

Honored at an award dinner Friday night were 37 employes of the Muncie plant of Owens-Illinois. Twenty-five-year employes who received watches were, left to right, seated, Robert Per­shing, Marvin Johns and Durwood Carmichael. Left to right, standing, are Ed Spence, plant manager; Forrest Hazelbaker, 35-year employe; Kenneth Brown, 30-year employe; R. H. Mulford, general manager, and S. A. Kenworth, general factory manager.

 

The Muncie plant of Owens-Illi­nois held its 15th annual service-award dinner Friday in the ballroom of the Hotel Roberts. Thirty-seven persons received recognition for lengthy service rendered to the parent company and its subsidiaries. The affair was attended by 175 persons.

Three of the awardees became members of the Owens-Illinois Pioneer Club which consists of those persons with 25 years or more of service. In recognition of this quarter century, they re­ceived gold watches and gold pins. The three were Durward Car­michael, Marvin Johns and Rob­ert Pershing.

Forrest Hazelbaker, plant engi­neer, was honored for 35 years of service.

Thirty-year awardees were Kenneth Brown and Erville Pope.

Pins for recognition of 20 years of service were given to Earl Carpenter, Alfred Collins, Francis Crouse, Robert Fogle, George Jett, Fred Johnson, Harold Opperman, Ben Rhinehart, Eugene Robertson, Everett Whitlock and George Wiseman.

Others receiving awards were James Hull for 15 years of serv­ice and the following 10-year awardees: Roy Bertram, Ralph Bilbrey, William Brasher, Earl Burton, William Coyle, Glen Elliott, George Gregory, Kenneth Hiatt, Clyde Hicks, Walter Houk, Daily Lynch, Gola Mahoney, Forest Milligan, Chester Pierce, Otis Pierce, Loranza Potter, Her­bert Pyles, James Roysden and Eugene Thomas.

A. J. Martin, director of labor relations for Owens-Illinois, was the principal speaker. Other To­ledo, O., officials who attended the annual affair were R. H. Mulford, vice president, Owens-Illi­nois, general manager, Kimble Glass; S. A. Ken worthy, vice presi­dent and general factories man­ager, Kimble Glass; E. B. Dennis Jr., vice president, sales manager, Kimble Glass; F. D. Pinotti, chief engineer, assistant general facto­ries manager, Kimble Glass; E. P. Lockart, sales manager, glass block; J. G. Clarke, sales mana­ger of special industries; and W. W. Wood, personnel director, Kimble Glass.

Ed Spence, local plant mana­ger, welcomed the group to the annual service award affair. Ed Langas, personnel director, served as toastmaster.
