Glass Manufacturer at Jefferson

Says President is Sure to

Make Good.

Among those in attendance upon the convention of the National Electrical Jobbers' Association at the Jefferson hotel is Mr. Daniel C. Hemingray, formerly school mate of President Taft. Mr. Hemingray is secretary-treasurer of the Hemingray Glass Company of Covington and while not a delegate to the convention is here on business, like a number of other manufacturers whose interests are allied with that of the commercial electricians.

Mr. Hemingray attended the high school in Cincinnati with Taft and retains the most pleasant recollections of Big Bill.

“We used to call him 'Lub' at school." said the Kentuckian at the Jefferson Tuesday night, “because he was such a lubber even as a boy. He weighed more than 200 pounds when he was a school lad of eighteen years. Bill was the finest kind of a fellow and was popular with everybody. Some people think he won’t make good as president but I believe he will. He has made good at everything he has attempted to do and that is a pretty sure sign that he can still make good. Bill has the judicial mind, and that makes him move and act more cautiously than he might otherwise do.”

Referring to the Roosevelt-Vatican incident in Rome. Mr. Hemingray said he believed the Pope’s secretary was responsible for the situation and that the holy father himself had perhaps little to do with placing the Vatican in such a predicament.
